The Tigers clinched the AL East to go wire-to-wire on this day in 1984. On the scene for Channel 2 was Fred McLeod, as captured in this clip on YouTube. McLeod would later call Tigers games on television with Ernie Harwell and Jim Price.
Man, I'm bummed to hear Fred McLeod, longtime Detroit sportscaster, died. I lived for watching "Sports Final Edition" growing up. Did a great job broadcasting Pistons games, and I always liked this clip of him when the Tigers clinched the division in '84. https://t.co/b5SZu1zg2C
